Tuesday 7th December
Woke up early (7:30am) today to get back to the dinner BBQ spot we were at on Saturday night - it was such a good location we knew it would probably be in high demand. Bacon, eggs, tomato, onion, etc breakfast BBQ was planned there, and fortunately we were the first there so grabbed the spot. I spent most of the morning doused in smoke if not trying to get the damn thing alight (lots of wet kindling - it rained the night before), then cooking all the food. It was yummy though, and then we spent the next hour or two on the little beach adjacent. I thought I would just stay in the shade and didn't bother with sunscreen.. another fail on this front.
We had a polite tour group operator wanting our spot for lunch, and as lunch time approached he became more persistent, so we decided to head back for nap time. The pre-lunch nap didn't really work for Rory, after about 30 mins she wandered out claiming her nap was finished. We fed her a peanut butter roll and then put her back. Could hear her talking to herself for another 30 mins, and then she was down.
While this was happening the adults (except Lizl and I) decided to go for a walk around the golf course. There was some miscommunication and it turns out this was also the actual golf playing expedition, so I missed out. I did get through some more of my bitcoin book though. On the way back they picked up a surprise cake for Rory that Lizl had organised, and we got Boots (see below) to drive us back to the place we were supposed to have Mum's birthday dinner at. Rory was curious but didn't really understand what was happening, however the cake was really good (if the wrong size and missing sparklers) and everyone was having a great time until Rory let her balloon slip and it popped on the grass. DEVASTATION.
For dinner Tom had booked us in to the golf club, it was only about 200m away so we started walking over there. The kids enjoyed running up and down the golf course hillocks and we found some golf balls for them to toss around. We were too early for dinner, but they were serving drinks, and Tom and I took the kids outside to hit some golf balls which burned some time. Nani enjoyed holding on to the hole flagpole and walking round and round and round..
Dinner was good, and the club shuttled us back to The Beachcomber for another spot of 1982 Trivial Pursuit.
Points of note:
- The cake was the wrong size, in the good way
- The shuttle back home had 0 ventilation. If one person had covid, we now all have it
- Boots - some old fella that seems to (help) manage The Beachcomber. A really nice guy, gave me a free coke, let us use the fridge for the cake, drove us places, smelled bad, probably older than the island.
This was such an incredible day!
ReplyDeleteI loved our morning BBQ breakfast and followed by Rory's chocolate cake
at lovers bay and dinner at the local golf club. The views everywhere were stunning and kids had so much fun. Photos capture it nicely Nick!
