Saturday 4th December
Today “we” got up at about 530am. Note to self: close Rory’s blinds tonight.
We had a pre-breakfast at the outside table at The Beachcomber, the organised ourselves and had another breakfast/muffins and coffee at the Anchorage café. Supposedly the premier café on the island; it was nice but not 5 star… In any case my egg and bacon roll was very good.
Bitcoin dropped to prices not seen since May which wasn’t great. Limited internet meant I was struggling to get a grasp on the situation which made for an uneasy morning. Maybe it’s time for a new bear market.
All this cycling everywhere is catching up - my bum starting to get sore from the bicycle seat. We have named our cabooses.
Tom’s: The spruce moose
Mine: The loose truce
We then rode to Ned’s beach for some beach chill time. We grabbed some umbrellas and snorkelling gear from a shack on the beach and setup for the morning. The weather held out, and we had mostly sun for the afternoon. Rory LOVED her blow up ring, she was content to float in the water for hours, even with chattering teeth.
At about midday we cycled back to The Beachcomber and had a light lunch and put the kiddos down for a nap. I managed a 10 min nap as well, but I felt like I could have slept for hours.
During nap time Tom went for an exploratory bike ride and came back to report he had found some good candidates for a dinner spot, and so we hopped on our bikes and rode with food and drinks. The view was incredible! We built a fire in the BBQ and cooked up some sausages, rissoles, corn, garlic bread, and onion. The kids checked out the plane crash and went for a play on the private beach. The bike ride home was in darkness, fortunately Tom had brought head torches, but this was the second time today we had to ride up the big hill to The Beachcomber, at this rate I don’t think my fitness will suffer too much on this trip.
Things of note:
- started teaching lil baby Anna to say "toot toot, beep beep, yeah!" She's getting pretty good
- Weather report keeps saying rain, but nothing yet?
- Kids not running with the caboose names (yet?)
I remember we went snorkeling that day too! Pretty easy and awesome just to go directly from the beach. I think Tom had a successful first snorkel 🏊🐠🐟
